As you know, Top Dawg Entrtainment (TDE) is an independent record label known to be the home of Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Black Hippy, Schoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad, Ab-Soul, and SZA. TDE produced albums for groups like Juvenile and Game in the late 90’s, but it was in 2003 that the label found its first big recording contract with Kendrick Lamar. Lamar himself has dropped 2 studio albums, 1 EP Album, 28 Singles, 42 Music Videos, 5 Mixtapes and 3 Promo Singles under the label since the age of 16, he is now 27.
In recent news, the label’s 13th produced album These Days by Ab-Soul released on June 24, 2014. This is his 3rd full length album produced by TDE. The album has already sold over 21,000 copies in the US alone and reached a peak position of #11 on the US Billboard Top 100 Charts thus far.
Ab-Soul signed with Top Dawg Entertainment after his 2 year contract with StreetBeat Entertainment expired. He signed with StreetBeat Ent. Fresh out of high school. The TDE label is a close knit group of musicians, so much so that Ab-Soul is the mascot for Black Hippy.
Ab-Soul on his plans for the future:
“You going to definitely be seeing a lot of me. I’m going to try to move around as much as I can. TDE is going to continue to move this Hiiipower movement, move it around the globe and try to do as much as we can man. Break those barriers. I feel like I really know what I’m doing. It’s definitely a good feeling.”
The label has 2 more albums to be released by Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar with details not yet specified on Title or release date.
