Nicki Minaj is making headlines again!

SURPRISE surprise… OK Not really…. Nicki Minaj is making headlines again!

No, this time it’s not about a new movie or TV appearance, her dating Drake, her crazy lipstick colors, or even one of her famously tacky ensembles. This time it’s her music and her thoughts on the industry that earn her a spotlight.

In music news, Nicki is getting geared up to release her “The Pink Print” album this year. She revealed that the albums lead single is titled “Pills N Potions” on the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards, May 18th. “Pills N Potions” was released on May 21, 2014 following the announcement and has peaked at #24 on the US Billboard Hot 100. To go along with that she has already released two of the albums other songs like “Lookin Ass” as a video (Feb. 12, 2014) and “Anaconda” (Aug. 4, 2014), which is the confirmed second single of the album.

The track focuses around Sir Mix-A-Lot’s 1992 classic “Baby Got Back”, and uses the lines “My anaconda don’t want none unless you got buns”, &  the voice clip “oh my god, look at her butt” for the hook. Given the popularity of the original version, Nicki’s raunchy new version may be the next big thing to hit the industry.

Here are some quotable lyrics from “Anaconda”:

This dude named Michael used to ride motorcycles
Dick bigger than a tower, I ain’t talking about Eiffels
Real country ass nigga, let me play with his rifle
Pussy put his ass to sleep, now he calling me NyQuil
Now that bang, bang, bang
I let him hit it cause he slang cocaine
He toss my salad like his name Romaine
And when we done, I make him buy me Balmain

Nicely timed in the middle of these releases, on June 29, 2014, Nicki won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at the BET Awards 2014 for the 5th consecutive year, making her the ONLY artist, male or female to win the “Best Hip-Hop Artist” award five times in a row. Nicki Minaj now also ties Missy Elliot for most wins of “Best Hip-Hop Artist”, each currently winning five times.
